Digital flipbook

The project ‘Duule’ resolves around a book, which contains photographs that have a connection to the internet, but also to internet memes and popular and relevant topics in society and is placed in artistic context.
The artwork ‘Duule’ is an installation consisting of: a book which contains 50 photographs that I made during this project and a selection of pictures from the book on a giant monitor that shows the Duule search page.
I chose to present the book with an out of proportion sized monitor, to add to the context of the digital age as the images on the giant monitor are titled differently and have different meanings than is shown in the book itself. The monitor shows the process of how an image, that has been placed on the internet, can be hijacked or reused. When this happens both the meaning and the context of the image can change.
Because we spend so much time in the digital world, I wanted to bring both the book and the monitor consisting of digital images, into the physical world by making them physical. These two, very often, seem to be intertwined.
